On February 18, 2017, a solemn fireworks display ceremony took place in Karlovo, in connection with the 144th anniversary of the death of the Apostle of Freedom – Vasil Levski. Patriotic Bulgarians from all over the country gathered in the square of the same name to honor with their presence the memory of the Apostle. In a minute's silence and with his knees falling, people in the square in the deacon's hometown faded and paid tribute to the great Bulgarian who self-sacrifice at the altar of his fatherland. The event was also attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria – Prof. Ognian Gerdzhikov, who noted that for his short life Levski became an icon of an entire nation. Naturally, here were representatives of the „Highwayman” Association who, in authentic highwayman's costumes and accoutrements, bowed their heads in front of the work and memory of the Apostle.
